Forty-seven years ago, a taste sensation was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Starting with a small restaurant and a big idea, the craze swept the country and the world. In the New Orleans suburb of Araby, Alvin c. copeland Sr., has opened Chicken on the Run, serving traditional southern Fried Chicken. After a few months of poor performance, he reopened the restaurant as "Popeyes" (after popeye Doyle, who had connections to France). This time he's selling spicy New Orleans chicken. In 1980, Popeyes introduced its "love that chicken" from its slogan. In 1983, it introduced buttermilk crackers, which became an important menu item. In 1984, it went global and expanded to Toronto, Canada.
